Youth Worker

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and committed Youth Worker to join our Youth Involvement Team on a part‑time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to build confidence, develop life skills and reach their potential.

Working with young people aged 8–19 (or up to 25 for those with disabilities), you’ll deliver engaging youth work programmes across a range of settings, including community venues, centres and outreach activities. If you enjoy building positive relationships, creating opportunities for young people and making a difference within local communities, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note this is a fixed term contract ending 31st March 2027 (with the possibility to extend subject to funding)

About the role

As a Youth Worker, you’ll support the planning and delivery of youth‑led projects and informal learning opportunities that promote personal, social and educational development.

You’ll work directly with young people, helping them develop resilience, independence and confidence, while supporting wider participation, leadership and employability opportunities.

What you’ll be doing

• Planning and delivering youth work activities and projects across centre‑based, community and outreach settings.
• Supporting young people to develop confidence, resilience, independence and leadership skills.
• Building positive relationships with young people and encouraging participation in programmes and activities.
• Providing guidance, support and signposting to opportunities including education, employment and training.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues, community organisations and other stakeholders to support young people effectively.
• Maintaining accurate records and contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of activities.
• Supporting the ongoing development and improvement of youth programmes and services.
• Promoting safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults is always prioritised.

What we’re looking for

• NVQ in Youth & Community Work or equivalent qualification.
• Experience working directly with young people in a youth work, community or educational setting.
• Understanding of the issues and challenges affecting young people.
• Experience planning and delivering activities that promote personal, social and educational development.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people, colleagues and partners.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection legislation and practice.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High levels of motivation, integrity and commitment to continuous learning and development.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.
